Peninsula Community Transport Ltd (PACT) provides affordable accessible transport throughout the Ards Peninsula.
PACT has grown steadily since opening in 2000. To date there are over 300 individual members and over 70 community groups who benefit from the community minibuses. This had lead to over 17,000 passenger trips being completed annually.
PACT has 4 accessible minibuses, 3 are funded by Rural Transport Fund and 1 by Ards LSP under SEUPB peace and reconciliation funds. PACT employs 5 part time drivers, 2 casual drivers and has over 200 Midas trained volunteer drivers. PACT has also established a volunteer car scheme for more one to one transport.
PACTs Successes:
2003 - Runner up in alternative format communication awards, Scope, NICVA.
2004 - Driver John Young wins NI Midas Driver of the Year.
2005 - Administrator Joanne Savage is first runner up in the National Transport Awards
Frontline Employee of the Year.
2006 - PACT is awarded the Mayors Award for social economy enterprise through
Ards Business Awards.
PACT is delighted with our ongoing successes more passengers are being transported. PACT is recognised as a reliable and quality transport company by the local and business communities.
What next?
PACT will be further expanding our operations throughout the next few years. PACT will provide transport for the rural areas of North Down and between Newtownards and Comber. PACT will move into new premises to house our growing number of staff and to permit more expansion. PACT is also developing stronger links with local private operators and taxi firms to enable a One Stop Shop. PACT will be able to provide transport for any rurally isolated individual or group either through using our vehicles or brokering in local providers. |
