Community Transport Northern Ireland is a body of voluntary sector transport operators covering the whole of Northern Ireland. The operators provide a high quality service of accessible, affordable and local transport to a wide range of individuals with mobility difficulties.

Purpose

The aims of Easilift are as follows:

To reduce the levels of isolation and inconvenience caused by the lack of an accessible and affordable transport system in the rural Derry City Council area.

To research and analyse transport needs in the area which will assist in the development of suitable transport initiatives.

To monitor these initiatives and evaluate their progress.

To investigate the scope for better co-ordination of existing transport provision.

To encourage participation from the Community, Statutory, Public and Private sectors in both devising and implementing a transport strategy.

Action Plan Activities

Develop and maintain a Partnership with representatives from the Community, Statutory, Public and Private sectors to develop new and additional services.

Help meet unmet transport needs through the operation of a minibus acquired under the auspices of the Rural Transport Fund.

Maximise local people’s knowledge of transport services available in their area by producing and distributing a booklet outlining the full range and nature of the services.

Develop local Community Transport projects by means of a Vehicle Brokerage scheme. This will serve to market the spare capacity of vehicles.
