DART DIAL-A-RIDE
Making the Rural Community Mobile
Down Armagh Rural Transport in partnership with local Councils and the community sector is launching a new door-to-door minibus service in a number of rural areas of Banbridge commencing April 2007.
The DART Dial-a-Ride service will target disadvantaged individuals & isolated rural communities currently suffering from poor access to transport.
The service will operate selected routes in rural areas and will aim to increase access to services and facilities located in main towns throughout the Banbridge district.
Dial-A-Ride can be used for a wide variety of social and recreational purposes such as shopping, doctors, chemists, post-offices, leisure facilities, social clubs visiting friends/relatives etc.
Dial-A-Ride buses will be fully accessible to people with disabilities and wheelchair users.
Trip cost will be no more than £1.50 per passenger trip (one way) and all trips must be booked in advance by registered scheme members.
Registration for the service is free for individuals and members of community groups who would welcome a door-to-door service in their rural area.
Information leaflets and registration forms for the new service will be distributed in public areas and shops throughout rural areas of Banbridge commencing this week.
It is important that individuals and community representatives register interest during the consultation phase as operational routes will be only be selected on the basis of community need.
