Who is South Antrim Community Transport (SACT)?
South Antrim Community Transport exists to provide accessible and affordable transport to those individuals and groups whose needs are not being met by existing public transport provision.
SACT is registered in Northern Ireland as a company limited by guarantee under the registered name South Antrim Mobility Partnership (No NI050839) and as a charity registered with the Inland Revenue (XR 78072)
The five main targets of our service are:
- The Elderly
- People with disabilities
- Women in the home
- The unemployed
- Young People
Groups served include:
- Luncheon clubs
- Church groups
- Youth groups
- After school clubs
- Women’s groups
- Community associations
- Sporting groups
South Antrim Community Transport also operates a Social Car Scheme. This involves volunteers from the local community using their own vehicles to transport individuals to and from a wide range of appointments.
What transport services are available?
South Antrim Community Transport provides a range of service options tailored to suit individual and group travel requirements:
- For individuals there are Dial a Lift and Social Car schemes providing door to door travel, either in SACT minibuses or by car with vetted volunteers.
- For groups, our 16 seater minibuses are available for hire either with a South Antrim driver or on a hire without driver. Please note that all drivers must hold a valid Midas certificate and be registered with South Antrim Community Transport.
How to access SACT services:
In order to use South Antrim Community Transport you will need to register as a member. Joining SACT is easy – just contact the office and our staff will be happy to talk you through the registration process. Membership to SACT is £10 per annum for individuals and £20 per annum for qualifying groups.
Once you have signed up as a member, simply contact the office to book your transport giving as much notice as possible. We will do our very best to have a vehicle available for you.
How much does it cost to travel?
Members with valid Smart Passes can travel for free or half fare on Dial a Lift services through the Assisted Rural Travel pilot in operation until March 2011. Other services – for individuals and groups – are priced affordably.

South Antrim Community Transport offers a number of driver and passenger related training courses, including;
- Midas Driver Training
- Midas Car & MPV
- Passenger Assistant Training
- Fire Evacuation
