Mission Statement:

The object of the Company is to provide a community transport service for such of the inhabitants of Newry & Mourne and its neighbourhood who are in need of such a service because of age, sickness or disability (mental or physical), or poverty, or because of a lack of availability or adequate and safe public passenger services.

Who is Newry & Mourne Community Transport?

Newry & Mourne Community Transport operate three minibuses, two of which have the capacity to carry up to 15 members each or alternatively we can transport 2 wheelchair users plus 10 other seated members, we also have a third 10-seated Minibus which can also carry a single wheelchair user. Our drivers are keen to provide services to as many members as possible so don’t delay phone today and request a Membership Application Form. Both our vehicles are fully accessible with wheelchair/passenger lifts fitted. Our minibuses can be booked on a ‘without driver’ basis where the group provides their own MiDAS trained driver who will be included on our NMCT List of Approved Drivers. We can also provide MiDAS training for any drivers aged 25 years and over, who must also have a full D1 category licence.

Newry & Mourne Community Transport also provides Dial-A-Lift & Assisted Rural Travel transport services to members living in the rural areas of Newry and Mourne and who find it difficult using mainstream public transport or where public transport is not available. Our dial-a-lift service can take you to your work, shopping, hairdresser, bank, doctor, visiting family or friends etc. Services are available to members only, with application forms and terms now available. What transport services are available?

Newry & Mourne Community Transport provides a range of service options tailored to suit individual and group travel requirements:

  • For individuals there are Dial a Lift and Social Car schemes providing door to door travel, either in RVRT minibuses or by car with vetted volunteers.
  • For groups, our 16 seater minibuses are available for hire either with a NMCT driver or on a hire without driver. Please note that all drivers must hold a valid Midas certificate and be registered with Newry & Mourne Community Transport.

How to access Newry & Mourne Community services:

In order to use MNCT you will need to register as a member. Joining NMCT is easy – just contact the office and our staff will be happy to talk you through the registration process. Membership to NMCT is free for individuals and £25 per year for qualifying groups.

Once you have signed up as a member, simply contact the office to book your transport giving as much notice as possible. We will do our very best to have a vehicle available for you.

How much does it cost to travel?

Members with valid Smart Passes can travel for free or half fare on Dial a Lift services through the Assisted Rural Travel pilot in operation until March 2015. Other services – for individuals and groups – are priced affordably.
