Operational Area Dungannon & District Community Transports operational area covers the whole of the Dungannon & South Tyrone Borough Council area. The main settlements are Coalisland, Donaghmore, Killyman, Moy, Benburb, Aughnacloy, Augher, Clogher and Fivemiletown. Total population is 48000.

Who is Dungannon & District Community Transport?

Dungannon & District Community Transport is a Company Limited by Guarantee with Charitable Status. The project was established in September 2000 to meet the identified accessible transport needs of the community of Dungannon & South Tyrone Borough Council Area with funding from South Tyrone Area Partnership and the Rural Transport Fund for Northern Ireland.

Aims and Objectives

  • Dungannon & District Community Transport wants to continue to provide a non-profit community transport service in the Dungannon & South Tyrone Borough Council area.
  • To prevent exclusion and marginalisation of individuals and groups because of lack of suitable transport.
  • To liase with groups and statutory bodies etc to examine transport issues.
  • To encourage good practice through MiDAS and PATs training
  • To utilise transport provision to benefit the community in the Dungannon & South Tyrone Borough Council area.
  • To make best use of current transport resources e.g., other community groups, private operators and public transport.
  • To develop partnerships with public, statutory and private bodies.
  • To identify areas of transport need.

What transport services are available?

Dungannon & District Community Transport provides a range of service options tailored to suit individual and group travel requirements:

  • For individuals there are the Dial a Lift and Social Car schemes providing door to door travel, either in DDCT minibuses or by car with vetted volunteers.
  • For groups, our 16 seater minibuses are available for hire either with a DDCT driver or on a hire without driver. Please note that all drivers must hold a valid Midas certificate and be registered with Dungannon & District Community Transport.

How to access Dungannon & District Community Transport services

In order to use DDCT you will need to register as a member. Joining DDCT is easy – just contact the office and our staff will be happy to talk you through the registration process. Membership to DDCT is £20 per annum for groups and £5 per annum for individuals.

Criteria for Dungannon & District Community Transport Service

  • Individuals in rural areas who do not have access to suitable transport or have limited access to public transport provision.
  • Individuals in rural areas who are socially excluded from participating in social/leisure/training facilities due to lack of access.
  • Voluntary/community groups who need transport to carry out their programmes and activities.
  • Those under Section 75 who need affordable, flexible and accessible transport.

Once you have signed up as a member, simply contact the office to book your transport giving as much notice as possible. We will do our very best to have a vehicle available for you.

How much does it cost to travel?

Members with valid Smart Passes can travel for free or half fare on Dial a Lift services through the Assisted Rural Travel Scheme pilot in operation until March 2011. Other services – for individuals and groups – are priced affordably.

DDCT provides a number of driver-related training courses, including;

  • Midas Driver Training
  • Midas Car & MPV
  • Passenger Assistant Training
  • Fire Evacuation

Dungannon & District Community Transport operates a Volunteer Car Scheme which has proved a popular addition to our services. We currently have 4 Volunteer Car Drivers and will continue to recruit as the demand increases.
