Who is Down Armagh Rural Transport (DART)?

Down Armagh Rural Transport Partnership (DART) Ltd, was formed in 1999 as a as a multi-agency, not-for-profit community transport partnership, we are a Company Limited by Guarantee (Companies Registration Number NI 38364) and a Registered Charity (Charity Number XR.35850). DART deliver a range of pre-booked fully accessible community transport services within the Craigavon & Banbridge council areas.

What transport services are available?

Down Armagh Rural Transport Partnership provides a range of transport service options tailored to suit individual and group travel requirements:

  • Group hire (with driver) and without driver minibus hire, for use by the local community, voluntary and not-for-profit sector.
  • Rural Centrepoint (with driver), a door-to-door service aimed at assisting groups with a strong social, health and well-being focus by providing weekly transport provision to a central location where weekly activities are taken place
  • Door to Door (Dial-A-Lift), a safe, individual, wheelchair friendly transport service for people living in rural areas of Craigavon & Banbridge who have difficulty accessing everyday services.
  • Access Plus, a social car scheme aimed at assisting people to access local medical and health and well-being appointments.

How to access DART services:

In order to use DART you will need to register as a member. Joining DART is easy – just contact the office and our staff will be happy to talk you through the registration process. Membership to DART is free for both individuals and for groups.

Once you have signed up as a member, simply contact the office to book your transport giving as much notice as possible. We will do our very best to have a vehicle available for you.

How much does it cost to travel?

Members with valid Smart Passes can travel for free or half fare on Dial a Lift services through the Assisted Rural Travel Scheme (ARTS) pilot in operation until March 2011. Other services – for individuals and groups – are priced affordably.

DART provides a range of approved and accredited transport training programmes to member groups and individuals. including;

  • Midas Driver Training
  • Midas Car & MPV
  • Passenger Assistant Training
  • Fire Evacuation

DART has a rolling volunteer recruitment programme with a range of opportunities and positions within the organisation. We welcome all enquiries from individuals interested in becoming volunteers.
